Baltimore Heritage's Five Minute Histories

Sunday, November 19, from 2 to 3:30 pm

Johns Hopkins

Launched the first day of Maryland's Covid 19 lock-down in 2020, Baltimore Heritage's Five Minute Histories video series has now covered over 250 historic places in and around Baltimore. From Duckpin Bowling and Lake Trout to Civil Rights and hidden architectural gems, the videos share stories of Baltimore history that hopefully bring back memories and change current perspectives. Join Johns Hopkins, Baltimore Heritage's director and video narrator, to talk through a few of the videos and get a glimpse of how the project went from a crazy idea with Johns' 15-year old daughter filming in their living room to a YouTube series with nearly a million views.

Johns Hopkins has been the director of Baltimore Heritage since 2003, working to preserve historic places and revitalize historic neighborhood in Baltimore. Johns also serves on the board of directors of Civic Works, Inc., Baltimore’s youth training and neighborhood revitalization corps, the Coppin Heights Community Development Corporation that is working to rebuild communities in West Baltimore, the Garrett Jacobs Mansion Endowment Fund, The Friends of Clifton Mansion, and Evergreen House.
