Historical Society of Baltimore County

Speaker Series - Zoom Online Talk

Banking and Paper Money in Baltimore County

Sunday, May 23, from 2 to 4 pm

Presented by Armand Shank

This presentation will show the history of banking and paper money in Baltimore County from colonial times until the 1930’s including the bank notes, buildings and the bankers.

Armand Shank grew up in Cockeysville and still resides there. He started collecting paper money around 1973 when he discovered his first note from the National Bank of Cockeysville. He still tries to add to his collection of Baltimore County bank notes whenever a new type or variety is discovered. In 1996, he co-authored "Money and Banking in Maryland" published by the Maryland Historical Society. A new article on this subject will be featured in the next issue of History Trails.
